Day 14

Hi everyone

It was a bit warmer here this morning - 4 degrees - when we got up. There was ice on the car again so Peter wrote on the windscreen to prove it.

We went down to the Mornington Peninsula - to Portsea and Sorrento. On the way we stopped at Rye Beach. It was 10 degrees and quite chilly with the breeze but there were still people sitting on the beach. Must be Victorians! We didn't see anyone swimming here, but there were some surfers at Portsea.

There were dozens of boat sheds, about 3m x 6m, (like these below) along the waterfront in this area as well as at Sorrento and Portsea.

We saw one for sale at a real estate office and thought we might buy one (ha! ha!). Well, it is absolute waterfront property and only $230,000!!!!! And this one has been recently renovated - what a bargain!

The houses in this area are quite expensive. There is a mix of large older style homes and very modern homes.

At Portsea there is a rock formation called London Bridge. We didn't walk down to the beach to see it but saw it from the lookout. I didn't want to get the sand in between my toes.

Another view of the beach at Portsea.

We stopped at Sorrento for lunch then headed to the hills of Mornington Peninsula to the T'Gallant Winery. We like their Moscato, so of course had to buy a box.

There was light cloud cover most of the day and the temperature stayed at around 11 degrees.

Tomorrow (weather permitting) we are off to Healesville and Marysville areas.

So till then
Cheerio and love from
Lesley and Peter.
