This was the sunrise this morning as we looked out our window. Then the fog rolled in and it was 9am before it finally lifted. It was quite cool. I can't believe the cool weather we have had most of the time we have been away.
We still can't get used to the sun rising at around 6 to 6.30am and setting about 9pm.
By 9.30am we left Kimba, travelling west along the Eyre highway to Kyancutta, which is the junction of the Eyre and Tod highways. From there headed south to Lock on the Tod Highway, before arriving at Cummins where we had lunch and a rest before going to Port Lincoln. Most of the scenery today has been thousands of hectares of wheat farming - all has been harvested, probably in the last couple of months.
Also running parallel to the road most of the way was the railway line and large water pipes so this was a common scene.
Has anyone heard of a boot tree? Well we found one.
After the 2005 bush fires in this area, a boot mysteriously appeared hanging from this tree. Since then it has become a tradition for visitors to the area to add to the collection.
By 3.30pm we arrived in Port Lincoln, which is on the south east coast of the Eyre Peninsula. The caravan park is right on the waterfront overlooking Boston Bay - one of the largest protected natural harbors in the world, and 3 times the size of Sydney Harbour.
This is the view from the caravan - Pretty nice!!!!
Located close to town is the grain loading terminal, which is obviously where all the grain from all the areas we travelled today, comes from.
