Ballina

Hi,

I haven't had a lot to report over the past few days. With all the rain around a lot of our planned activities had to be cancelled and didn't venture too far. Friday and Saturday was very wet. This meant lots of time for socialising and drinking coffee and the occasional wine at happy hour.

Friday morning we went to the restaurant near the Trial Bay Gaol with the group for a very scrumptious breakfast.

Saturday night we had a spit roast dinner followed by a night of square dancing. This was great fun. Most had never done it before but there are 2 couples in the club who are experienced square dancers.

Yes, that's me dancing with one of the square dancers.

It continued raining on and off Sunday and Monday. I went for a few walks when the rain had cleared for a while. We invited 3 other couples to share dinner with us last night so was a nice way to finish our rally. We had more heavy rain overnight and this morning as we were packing ready to leave South West Rocks. The weather remained fine on our trip to Ballina where we are staying tonight before heading home tomorrow.

That's all for this time.
Bye from Lesley and Peter

South West Rocks Thursday - part 2

I am having trouble sending this blog in one go so hopefully will do it in 2 parts.

We then drove to the lighthouse at Hat Head. It was a bit of a steep walk from the car park to the lighthouse, but good exercise.

After lunch I went for another walk by myself (Peter had done enough for one day) to the town centre and back again to the park. A good round trip so I had my exercise for the day. It's now happy hour time - that will undo some of today's exercise. The weather looks like it is clearing for now but tomorrow might be different.

That's all today.
Bye for now,
Lesley and Peter.

South West Rocks

Hello again,

We headed off mid morning Monday for the Adria rally at South West Rocks. We stayed at Grafton Monday night and then had a short drive to SWR Tuesday. We arrived by lunch time, to be greeted by the other Adria van owners who had already arrived. There are 28 Adria vans here which I think is the biggest so far. Each rally seems to get bigger. We had Happy Hour as usual in the afternoon.

Yesterday we were to drive " up the mountain" for a BBQ lunch. Due to the weather forecast it was cancelled as the organizers were worried if we did get the predicted rain we could be stranded between one of the ten creek crossings. The road was also unsealed. However we had a fine day but you just never know and better to be safe. Peter and another van owner spent the morning trying to work out how to fix one of our windows. Didn't have much luck. Peter had a sleep after lunch then we went to Kempsey which is about a 45 minute drive from here. We went to church for Ash Wednesday which was at 5.30pm then had dinner at the pub before heading back to SWR.

Today Peter and I went to Trial Bay Gaol which is located here at South West Rocks. I had been there many years ago with Leisa and Nicole.

Below are the baths the prisoners bathed in. There was a partition between the baths for privacy - very thoughtful!

From there we wandered down to the water - it's not too rough yet with the cyclone up north.
